Founded in 1756 by the King of Portugal, this company represents some of the finest Quintas in the Douro. Old but not out of touch, they have been able to preserve and honour the traditional winemaking while investing in the future with constant modernisation and experimentation in their vineyards.
Viticulture: Upwards of 30 grape varieties can be used to make port but only what are considered the best are planted in the Delaforce vineyards, each contributing its unique character and flavour to the blend, which include Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz. Hand selected and harvested in mid September into small trays to keep them in perfect condition.
Winemaking: Unlike vintage Port, which benefits from some years in bottle, Late Bottled Vintage does not need to be cellared and is ready to drink.
